This recipe for a Matcha power shot will super charge your body and your mind…

Matcha, Turmeric and Ginger have always been known for their amazing health benefits. So, we thought we’d create an easy way of consuming these ingredients every day to take advantage of huge number of vitamins and nutrients within these superfoods. But first, a quick summary of why these three ingredients are insanely good for you.

Matcha- Packed full of antioxidants (10 times more than ordinary green tea!). A natural source of slow- release energy gained from the naturally-occurring caffeine molecules. In addition, matcha contains L-theanine, an amino acid that the body does not naturally produce. L-theanine has many benefits including better mental focus, improved cognitive ability and can reduce stress levels. So, the natural caffeine teamed with L-theanine provides a calm, yet alert and energised state, an ideal way to start your day.  

Turmeric- Otherwise known as the ‘golden spice’ due to its brilliant orangey gold colour, it has been eaten in Asian cuisine for centuries.  Some say turmeric is the ‘World’s Greatest Anti-Inflammatory’, now we’re not sure if it’s the world’s greatest but studies have shown that it does reduce inflammation and may reduce pain caused by inflammation within the body. Curcumin is the active ingredient within turmeric and is a great antioxidant. BUT you really want to be consuming the raw, fresh root rather than the powdered version for the full health benefits.

Ginger- Loaded with nutrients and active ingredients that have powerful benefits for your body and brain. It has a long history of being used to aid digestion, reduce nausea (often used to combat morning sickness) and contribute to help fight a cold. Like turmeric, ginger has anti inflammatory properties. On top of all this it smells amazing and tastes freaking amazing!


  • 50ml Filtered Water
  • 5 tsp Kineta Matcha
  • 2 Fresh Organic Lemons – juiced
  • A Large piece of FRESH Root Ginger
  • ½ the amount of FRESH Root Turmeric (peeled and finely chopped) as ginger
  • Pinch of Cayenne Pepper
  • Pinch of Himalayan Rock Salt
  1. Pour water, matcha, lemon juice over the top of the ginger and turmeric.
  2. Whizz everything up in a blender
  3. Either pour in moulds or ice cube bags and freeze
  4. Defrost one – two cubes every morning by dropping them into warm (not boiling) water and knock it back for an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory rich kick to start the day.

An alternative method is to place everything into a juicer to remove the pulp. I also add 2 apples when I am juicing it to give it an alternative sweetness.

Top Tip:

These power shots are great to make in bulk in order to defrost every morning for an instant kick and flood of antioxidants. Another quick tip, you can freeze fresh ginger and turmeric roots in the freezer for a few months, preventing waste and again reduce costs buying in bulk.
