Our Professional Cooking Matcha is revered amongst celebrity Chef’s because of its bright, vibrant emerald green colour. The colour and flavour of this particular Culinary Matcha is retained after heating and is perfect for baking, cooking and desserts.
Premium Cooking Matcha is made from the ground leaves of the Yabukita cultivar which is shade grown prior to picking to enhance it’s stunning green colour and distinct complex flavours. It has a much more astringent tasting note with a more assertive flavour profile that makes it the perfect addition to your cooking/ baking because it really stands out amongst other flavours. It’s always balanced and is never overwhelmed. This grade of Matcha is light fresh and will seamlessly blend with other ingredients whatever the recipe.
Please note that even though the price is lower the quality is not. Our Cooking Matcha is a different grade of matcha with a completely different taste profile and we do not recommend this for drinking! The flavour has been chosen especially to sit alongside other strong flavours like; Mango, Pepper, Ginger, Coconut, Thai Spices, Basil and more.
To create the distinct flavour of our Cooking Matcha the leaves we use are a little older than those used for making our Finest Matcha Tea. Hence, the differences in colour and flavour between these two. So the common misconception that Cooking Grade Matcha tea is inferior in quality just isn’t true. It’s just a different kind of Matcha tea with a different use, flavour profiles and colour.
