Power balls are everywhere at the moment. Everyone is desperate to get their hands on these healthy balls of goodness, but if we’re talking about energy, then adding Matcha completely supercharges the concept. They are also raw, vegan and easy to make.
I discovered power balls when I was planning for a walking holiday and wanted to take something light and easy which was packed with energy and goodness when I started to feel a little in need. In the past, I have ended up snacking on less than healthy alternatives, but these little guys are all raw, all good stuff and if it’s energy you are looking for then these are magic. I absolutely love chocolate orange as a flavour and I think it takes these to the next level and works perfectly with the dates and the nuts.
As these are made with loads of lovely nuts – Cashews and Almonds, two of my absolute faves, you get a hit of protein as well as the obvious energy. These also contain some Himilayan salt, which is good for re-hydration, can prevent muscle cramping during exercise and helps to lower blood pressure. In addition, the Matcha not only energises you but also gives you focus due to the unique combination of caffeine and L-theanine.
They are perfect for any extended exercise (such as hiking) due to the slow-release energy of the Matcha. They take up no space at all in your pack and the flavour is out of this world and really packs a punch for a perfect treat mid-walk, allowing you to enjoy your adventures without feeling drained.
