CBD oil has gained in popularity recently, with it boasting a number of health benefits. We therefore wanted to take a look at Matcha in comparison to CBD so that we could explore the health benefits of each.

Having started the research for this article it quickly became apparent that there is still much research that needs to be done in to the benefits of CBD. As it is still new in the health and wellness scene, it remains a little misunderstood. That said, there are many people who swear by this wonder oil, so we have collated some of the more widely reported benefits alongside Matcha. Matcha has been around for much longer and therefore has far more research supporting its health benefits which we will also cover here.

Matcha green tea, the vibrant green powdered tea introduced to Japan in the 12th century, is a nutrient-loaded drink, proven to be a trusty aide for all of your weight loss-inducing, energy-boosting and concentration-enhancing needs. Because Matcha is consumed whole in the form of a powder, rather than via the liquid of loose leaf/ teabag tea where the best bit is thrown in the bin! Drinking it powered means you get more of the vitamins, minerals and vital componants that make it such a powerfully healthy drink. Matcha green tea is therefore the health drink choice of today.

Mood Enhancing

Matcha green tea stimulates the production of alpha brainwaves, which promote relaxation and enhance concentration. Furthermore, studies have demonstrated the antioxidant, cancer-preventing, liver-protecting and cholesterol-lowering properties of the catechins found in Matcha green tea. It is therefore no surprise that the bright green powder is lauded as a key tool in the fight against diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. With its vitamin A, C, E, K, and vitamin B-complex content, our Matcha green tea powder is the right choice for the health conscious consumer.

You will no doubt also have heard about Cannabidiol (also known as CBD), a component extracted from the cannabis plant. The use of CBD as a nutritional supplement has gained traction in recent years. As public support for legalisation of the drug has grown, and governments around the world have loosened controls surrounding it, more and more research has being carried out and in turn this has led to its use for medicinal purposes. So how is CBD oil beneficial for your health?

Anxiety Cure?

Studies have suggested that sufferers of anxiety and depression can benefit from CBD due to its ability to activate the 5-HT1A receptor, a type of receptor for serotonin. It is this receptor which selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as Prozac and Zoloft target, in order to boost serotonin levels and thereby reduce anxiety and elevate a person’s mood. CBD has also been found to be effective in reducing the symptoms associated with cancer treatments like chemotherapy, such as nausea and vomiting, and even causing cancer cell death, whilst those with epilepsy can benefit from a reduction in the number of seizures experienced.

Skin Health

One of the more surprising benefits of CBD is the improvement of troublesome skin disorders such as acne, which improve as a result of its ability to reduce inflammation and prevent the excessive production of sebum, an oily substance produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin.  

Overall then, having taken a look at the benefits of both Matcha and CBD it seems that rather than looking at these two in opposition to one another, it may in fact be more helpful to view them both as nutritional supplements which can be beneficial for different reasons. In order to enhance your overall health, the best approach is to identify your specific objective (such as faster hair and nail growth, or to overcome a medical issue). You can then incorporate various superfoods and health supplements in order to compensate for the fact that there is no single source of all nutrients. Both matcha green tea and CBD have their own roles to play in boosting our health and providing therapeutic benefits.

Matcha Latte with CBD Oil

We decided to combine the powers of both Matcha and CBD Oil into one of our favourite drinks, the Matcha latte:

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon Kineta Matcha
  • 5 x drops of 5% CBD Oil
  • Demerara sugar/honey/coconut sugar
  • Warm water
  • 300ml Milk

Method:

  1. Place matcha green tea powder into a mug, cup or bowl along with as much or as little sugar or honey as you prefer.
  2. Pour enough warm water on top to cover the powder and your chosen sweetener.
  3. Stir with a spoon or whisk until the ingredients have made a smooth paste.
  4. Heat the milk in a saucepan until it is hot but not boiling.
  5. Pour the milk on to the matcha green tea mix.
  6. Mix the milk and matcha paste until you have a light green drink that is smooth and delicious.
  7. Enjoy!
