I’m surrounded by people who are sticking strong to their New Year resolutions and most of these resolutions are health-based. With that in mind, I wanted to introduce you all to one of my favourite sports recipes which, I use as fuel for training: Matcha Protein Bars. These healthy, easy to make Matcha Protein Bars are packed full of protein, good fats and energy to keep you working out longer and harder! They are perfect for those long cardio sessions and are surprisingly filling and chocked full of natural goodness and of course Matcha Green Tea.

There are so many benefits to Matcha Green Tea that support training which is why they make a great addition to these Matcha Protein Bars.

Super Goodness: These Matcha Protein Bars are also Vegan, Gluten Free and contain no added sugar, no added fat or preservatives!

So here is how they are made…

– 1 Cup of dates
– 1/4 cup of raisins and prunes
– 1 cup of almonds
– 1 Tbs 100% organic chocolate (or more if you need more flavour)
– 3 tsp Organic Matcha Tea Powder

The directions to make these Matcha Protein Bars are really simple.

They are so simple to make it’s the reason I love these nutritious bars! Simply place all the ingredients into a blender and blend until they make a smooth yet chunky dough. When you do this you will understand what I mean. When I first start to make these I tend to pulse the blender at the early stages.

Line a rectangular tin with grease proof paper and place the dough into the tin pushing it down to make it flat and even and approximately 1.5cms thick. Leave in the fridge for 15 minutes.

The dough should have firmed up allowing you to cut into bar shapes and sieve further Matcha Powder over the top. These will keep in the fridge for at least 2 weeks although in our house they’re usually gone within the first three days!

As well as training these make great on the go snacks as they keep you feeling full for longer and are easy to transport and eat. I also suggest cutting them into mouth size squares so you can take them with you running, cycling, trekking or camping.

Enjoy Matcha Lovers!
