Every once in while there is going to be a hangover and with the onslaught of the festive season, this possibility is only increased. But if, like me, your hangovers have become increasingly worse as you grow older, and even a prudent night out now leads to being pretty much bed-ridden the following day, then this smoothie may be just the answer to your prayers.
I discovered the joy and relief of Matcha’s hangover-destroying superpowers after complaining about my horrific hangovers (referenced in brief above) to my colleagues. They explained to me that because of the combination of caffeine, antioxidants and chlorophyll in Matcha, these unite to make the ultimate fighting force to combat those pesky hangovers. It works because the caffeine soothes your headache, the antioxidants help to clear your body of toxins, and the chlorophyll restores the natural balance in your body.
Alcohol causes a loss of minerals such as potassium. By adding bananas and avocado to the mix, (both of which are an excellent source of potassium), you will help replenish what has been lost. Alcohol also dehydrates, so the pinch of Pink Himilayan salt helps to re-hydrate your parched body. It is important to note here that you must use Pink Himilayan salt and not refined salt as this adversely works to dehydrate rather than re-hydrate.
The recipe is also a super-duper-easy-peasy. You literally put all the ingredients into a blender and blend them (perfect for that foggy hangover brain). So let me impart on you the wisdom of this recipe:
- 1 teaspoon of Kineta Matcha
- 1 banana
- 350ml water
- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
- 60ml of coconut milk
- ½ an avocado
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- A Pinch of Pink Himalayan Salt
- Place all of the ingredients into a blender and blend.
