There is around 34mg of caffeine per 1g of Kineta Ceremonial Matcha tea powder. This is compared to 70-80mg for a cup of coffee. Most experts consider 200mg of caffeine per day to be an acceptable level. The ‘type’ of caffeine in Matcha is different from that of coffee caffeine, called Theophylline, which gives you a much more sustainable release of energy throughout the day. It slows the release because it is linked to the amino acid; L-theanine which slows the absorption giving a much more steady and slow release of caffeine. Many of our regular customers are so sensitive to caffeine that they develop migraines from anything caffeinated, yet they are able to drink Kineta Matcha with no ill effects whatsoever.
A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (1999) showed that green tea extract which is rich in catechins does have thermogenic properties that go beyond that which can be explained by the caffeine content of the tea. It was found that consuming green tea increased thermogenesis (the body’s rate of burning calories) from 8-10% to 35-43% of daily energy expenditure.
There was a further study which demonstrated that exercising immediately after drinking matcha green tea resulted in up to a 25% more fat burning during exercise. Essentially both studies suggest that green tea can improve the resting metabolic rate alongside fat burning. Furthermore, this effect did not incur any side effects that are associated with more traditional fat loss pills. Combined with the fact that drinking green tea instead of sugary, calorie filled drinks really does make Matcha Tea a far superior drink in ouor opinion!
Our Matcha lovers often report the amazing way that our Matcha Green Tea makes them feel… and we all know that feeling good can be addictive! Having said that there is no evidence that drinking Matcha causes any coffee-like addictions or gives you any withdrawal symptoms if you stop consuming it.
With a dosage of ½ a teaspoon once per day our 30g tin of Matcha will last up to 6 weeks. If you wish to up the dosage or its regularity then it will obviously be less. We suggest that 1 tin per month is about right in terms of dosage and average usage.
Our shelf-life is at the bottom of each and every tin – which is 18-Months from the point of packaging. We use air sealed containers, which protects the product’s nutrients and keeps it to the best quality. Once exposed to air Matcha green tea begins to loose its nutrients if not stored correctly. We recommend it is refrigerated and provided it’s kept away from light, heat and moisture it will remain in excellent quality for up to 6 months.
Kineta Matcha is best stored in the fridge. Simply shut your tin tightly and you will preserve all that wonderful green colour, powerful nutrients and taste for longer.
A few consumers have concerns about the safety of Matcha tea following the tragic earthquake disaster 2011. To confirm that the Nishio region where the Kineta Matcha tea is sourced and produced is over 600km South of Fukashima. Further to this product is open to strict testing by the Japanese Authorities before it leaves the country and again on entry meeting the highest food standards.
Matcha does contain caffeine. During pregnancy it is often advised to limited caffeine during pregnancy. One serving of our Matcha green tea contains 34mg of caffeine and by comparison a regular cup of coffee contains on average 70-75 mg. If you have any concerns please consult your doctor.
Matcha green tea is a stone ground green tea to a form a powdered version of green tea. It is also grown and harvested in a slightly different way to standard green tea in that it is shade grown for the final few months to allow the leaves to fill with chlorophyll and exude a vibrant green colour packed full of powerful antioxidants and nutrients.
Kineta Matcha green tea is a ceremonial grade Matcha tea and we use the finest, smallest leaves from the very tip of the tea bush – giving it a more vibrant green colour and a slightly smoother, sweeter flavour as well as increased amounts of amino acids and vitamins A, C & E.
Our Matcha Green Tea is traditionally stone ground on site at our family run tea farm in Nishio region which is buried deep within the heart of Japan’s main island, Honshu and remains one of Japan’s best-kept tea secrets.
Well, this really does depend on your personal preference and your reasons behind why you consume Matcha Green Tea.
We recommend you should have no more than 3 cups a day which also keeps you within the lower recommended caffeine limit of 200mg. Due to the slow caffeine release it is often sufficient to have just 1-2 cups in the morning and still feel the health benefits and improved mental alertness that Matcha delivers, throughout the entire day. If you wish to go on a detox, weight loss regime, or are lacking in energy at 2-3 times a day is recommended.
Any time you need an energy boost or increased focus. We recommend that Matcha is consumed in the morning and early afternoon: Morning time is very beneficial, and is a good time to take Matcha as a smoothie or even in porridge. After lunch is also good for avoiding the mid-afternoon slump.
Due to the caffeine content, it is not advisable to drink Matcha just before bed (even though the caffeine content is still much lower than coffee and a lot of other types of teas).
You can serve Matcha with hot water, juices or smoothies. It can also be used in a wide variety of baking!
However, to receive the greatest health benefits, the optimum temperature to serve Matcha is 70 degrees. If you don’t have a temperature-controlled kettle, simply switch off the kettle before it reaches boiling point.
Matcha has long been revered as a very potent product for general skin care and blemishes. There are are many products containing Matcha Green tea that are gaining strong industry recognition and awards for the ability to positively impact skin quality. That said there is still much research to complete.
We always recommend adding a little lemon or lime juice to Matcha as studies have shown that this helps protect Matcha during the digestive process allowing you to get more of the benefits and nutrients from it. Any citric acid is helpful. If you don’t wish to adulterate the taste, simply taking a few vitamin c tablets will be as good due to the ascorbic acid content.
We would suggest that Matcha is possibly the best option possible for coffee addicts. Matcha gives an energy release 4-6 times longer than coffee while regulating blood sugar so you will feel both energised and content. The L-theanine effect relaxes and calms the nervous system, rather than overstimulating it. Almost all our customers have noticed their coffee consumption collapsing or have banished coffee from their diet altogether with no withdrawal symptoms. We can’t stop you liking coffee’s taste, but we believe it can help you so you will no longer rely on it to get you through your day.
