The UK’s weekend of Summer may have come and gone, but we choose to live in hope and are certain what we’ve experienced so far is just a taste of 2018 has in store. In preparation of what we’re sure will be the most glorious Summer in years, we’ve put together a short list of 3 Matcha Green Tea-infused cocktail recipes to try out the next time you have an outdoor get together with your friends and family.

Matcha Gin Genie

Matcha Gin Ginie

Perfect for those light summer evenings, this matcha gin cocktail is a refreshing treat after a hot day in the sun. Best of all, it’s nice and easy to make! Simply mix all the ingredients together with ice, pour them into a cocktail shaker, and shake vigorously until cold. Then all you have to do is strain, serve and enjoy! So, what do you need to make the Matcha Gin Genie?

  • 1 tbsp Kineta Matcha Green Tea
  • 90ml water
  • 30ml lime juice
  • 15ml sugar syrup
  • 75ml gin (we like Distinctly Dartmouth Elderflower & Apple gin)

Recommended glass: Martini

Matcha Mai TaiMatcha Mai Tai

Who created the original Mai Tai is still a highly debated topic on the Tiki Bar scene, but this isn’t the case when it comes to the Matcha Mai Tai. Invented by Vincent Anter at Santa Monica’s Fig Restaurant, the Matcha Mai Tai is intended to be a day-time cocktail that can be enjoyed alongside a light brunch. Simply shake all the ingredients bar the dark rum in a chilled shaker, strain over ice, and float the dark rum on top.

  • 50ml Dark Rum
  • 1 tbsp Kineta Matcha Green Tea
  • 30ml Lime Juice
  • 15ml Almond Syrup (sugar syrup will suffice)
  • 25ml White Rum

Recommended glass: Highball

Matcha Mojito

Matcha MojitoThis is not the first time we’ve mentioned Matcha Mojitos on the I Love Matcha Tea blog, and the reason for this is that we’re mad about them! Not only are they perfect for Summer, they are also easy to make and can be made using ingredients commonly found around the home. To mix-up your own Matcha Mojito, simply muddle mint, Matcha, sugar and lime juice in a glass, fill with ice (preferably crushed), pour in some rum and top with sparkling water. To garnish, pop a sprig of mint on top and maybe dust with some more Matcha powder.

  • 6 Mint Leaves
  • 1 tbsp Kineta Matcha Green Tea
  • 30ml Lime Juice
  • Soda Water
  • 50ml White Rum

Optional: Reduce the White Rum content by 25ml and top up with 25ml of Vodka if you want a slightly more potent taste of matcha.

Recommended glass: Collins
